Kids Helping Kids

Here at UVA Children's Hospital, we're all about #kidshelpingkids! Check out some of the stories below, and click the pictures for the corresponding Facebook post. 

Samantha, 7, was treated at UVA Children's Hospital in the spring of 2015 and decided that she wanted to make a difference for the families that she met while she was there. She started a fundraising page and raised $405 (more money came in after the giant check was written)!

The VA Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) stopped by the Battle Building at UVA Children's Hospital with a donation of new toys and books for patients! These students are interested in pursuing careers in the healthcare field.

July 30, 2015, was Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen! For every Blizzard sold, Dairy Queen donated $1 or more to UVA Children's Hospital through the Children's Miracle Network.

Tyler is a Retinoblastoma cancer survivor and one of our awesome Miracle Kids. Tyler heard that his buddy was fighting leukemia and decided to shave his head to show his support. Cancer warriors stick together!

Baby Finn and his mother Kelly inspire us all at UVA Children's Hospital, and continue to fundraising for the PICU and NICU -- click here to follow along on their journey!

Lightfoot and Unionville Elementary Schools raised $988 for pediatric cancer research at UVA Children's Hospital. Students and teachers from both schools came together for the "Give Cancer the Boot Run/Walk" in May 2015.

In June 2015, the Whole Foods in Charlottesville hosted a Blush Daisy skin care demo. The sister duo of Emma (age 13) and Julia (age 10) sold their all natural lotions and scrubs, and gave 10% of the proceeds to UVA Children's Hospital!

In May 2015, Panera Bread hosted the "Kids Craft for a Cause" in the Barricks Road Shopping Center. Sales from all crafts benefited food allergy research.

"The Gulch Kids Lemonade Stand" supports UVA Children's Hospital! These neighbor friends came together to raise money for the kids in their community.

 Students at Meriwether Lewis Elementary School presented a check to UVA Children's Hospital for $141. They raised this money by hosting a Kids Craft Fair.

Kris Thomas, a student at UVA, worked with the Virginia Gators of Charlottesville swim club to host a Swim-A-Thon. The event raised $5,098 for the NICU at UVA Children's Hospital!

A big shout out to everyone involved in the Norah June Softball tournament! The event raised $10,000 for pediatric hematology/oncology research at UVA Children's Hospital.

Gabe - Celebrated a birthday and instead of asking his friends and family for toys that he wanted, he asked them to buy something for the kids at UVA Children's Hospital.

Caroline Miller, age 9 - instead of receiving presents at her birthday party this year, nine year old Caroline Miller asked her friends to bring a donation to UVA Children's Hospital!
