Advancing Compassionate, Comprehensive Patient Care
How do we define exceptional care?
Patients thrive under the care of physicians and nurses who are specialists in their fields. They also benefit from having access to the latest treatment and research options available. This is exactly the kind of care UVA strives to offer all our patients. We also search for new and innovative treatments and cures, some of which come from our own laboratories. We offer and participate in clinical trials that bring new hope to patients.
In addition to saving lives, we work to improve the ways we deliver care—building state-of-the-art outpatient facilities like the Battle Building at UVA Children's Hospital and the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center.
In cancer, diabetes, emergency medicine, ophthalmology—and all across the Health System—opportunities exist to improve patient care. Three Centers of Excellence—cancer, cardiovascular medicine, and the neurosciences—are already engaged in building their capacity. UVA is also building partnerships across the Commonwealth, expanding our outreach with the UVA Culpeper Hospital and the UVA Hope Community Cancer Centers.
At the same time, in the School of Nursing, the Compassionate Care Initiative focuses on developing new models for end-of-life care for patients and creating and sustaining resilient practitioners.
We couldn't do all this without you.
